HaléLupé has garnered acclaim as a finalist for the 2008 Portland Songwriters Association Performing Artist of the Year, and a 2009 West Coast Songwriters contest “Judges Pick”. Plus she has been featured on Tom May’s nationally syndicated radio program, River City Folk. Her loyal following enjoys her music, authenticity and ability to connect with and touch them deeply in live performances.
HaléLupé’s latest album, The Heart of Things, was brilliantly produced by leading Portland producer Rob Stroup of 8-Ball Studios who wove her songs into a rich, complex and pleasing sound. The album has received radio play around the West including Portland (KINK), San Francisco (KFOG) and New Mexico (KBAC & KTAO). It boasts an outstanding cast of musicians from the cream of Portland’s music scene - Tim Ellis (lead guitar), Jean Pierre Garau (keyboards), Arthur Parker(bass), Drew Shoals (drums), Ezra Holbrook (drums) and Chris Robley (guitar and accordion).
With songwriting influences in the vein of Patty Larkin, Shawn Colvin, Jonatha Brooke and Bob Dylan, and vocal influences like Eva Cassidy, Bonnie Raitt and Deb Talen, HaléLupé's music is filled with lyrics, rhythms and melodies that draw from deep musical roots. She has been compared to Carole King, Lucy Kaplanski and Suzanne Vega.
HaléLupé grew up in Portland, Oregon and spent summers at Spirit Lake, at the base of Mount St. Helens, where she discovered music as a fulfilling avenue for experiencing life. In the shadow of this mountain there was always music to play, sing or dance to and this shaped the way she sees and hears the world today.
